For many of you, freshers will be your first time going out in The Toon and trust us, it’s a great way to start uni off in style. The best part is, after you’ve finished partying you can head home to your cosy student accommodation in Newcastle.

1. UV Neon Lazer Rave
The official fresher welcome party, UV Neon Rave, has been pleasing Newcastle students for nine years making it an event you MUST go to come September. Begin your university experience partying the night away with your flatmates and meet new people within the student community in one of the most iconic cities in Britain.
You’ll have a great time dancing away to music by top DJs, with lasers, strobe shows, massive inflatables, confetti showers and cheap drinks promised. It sure seems like this event is going to be one to top!

2. Newcastle Freshers 2022 Welcome Party – ZOO Theme Special
The Newcastle Freshers 2022 Welcome Party – ZOO Theme Special is one of the biggest annual events for students at Newcastle University and Northumbria University. This event always sells out, so you’ll have tons of opportunity to meet new people and engage with the student community in the city. Wey aye, man!
Expect to be joined by 500 others in a transformed club with a zoo theme, huge inflatables, giveaways, drinks deal, great music, and let’s not forget, expect to be surrounded by everyone dressed in zoo theme! It’s not compulsory of course, but it is great fun to get dressed up as your fave animal and party the night away. Students have been loving this fresher’s event for six years so we’re sure you’ll have the best time with your newfound friends.

3. Abba Disco Wonderland
Who doesn’t love ABBA? We certainty do. The ABBA Disco Wonderland is back this year for the fourth year of sold-out events so if you’re a disco and funk music lover, you need to go to sing and dance your heart out. Each year they play ABBA hits all night long as well as hits from the 70’s and 80’s – you won’t want the night to end!
Whilst dancing the night away you’ll be partying in the show of confetti canons, disco décor, theatrical performances, and live actors. There’s also great drinks deals, and a best 70s dress competition so get your flared pants on and bring in the hippie vibes!

4. Freshers Fest
The biggest fresher’s festival tour is coming to one of the best nightclubs and bars in the city, Howlers. Prepare for a night of led visuals, laser strobes, inflatables, confetti explosions, and a variety of music like Hip Hop, Urban, House, Bass and Dance tunes.
You’ll be living the life whilst partying with your pals as they’ll be cheap student drinks all night and glitter stations – it’s always fun to see the professional photos after. Going to official freshers’ events like this one are a great opportunity to make some new friends. So, get yourself out there and make some memories!

5. LooseCrawl
LooseCrawl is Newcastle’s biggest and most famous student bar crawl, across 9 hours you’ll go to tons of venues including 12 of the best bars and 4 vibrant nightclubs. The events taking place on Sunday 18th September and 10,000 freshers are expected to party so the atmosphere will be booming! Why not go into Monday morning in the best way? We want to join in the fun!
Tickets to the event are super cheap and you get to celebrate with your uni friends in a variety of places, which is all included in the price. Although, you do have to buy your own drinks but there’s student friendly drinks prices everywhere so don’t worry about spending too much of your student loan.

6. The Freshers Circus Spectacular
This event is not one to be missed during fresher’s week, it’s one of a kind! Let your hair down and experience live circus performances like fire eaters, trapeze artists, aerial hoop artists and stilt walkers. Along with a great music soundtrack with radio 1 and radio extra dj’s playing all night. Show off your dancing skills to your flatmates and meet new people also studying in Newcastle!
Included in your ticket is free popcorn, candy floss, glow sticks and glow wands – you’ll be getting spoilt! There’s also a competition for the best dressed with the prize being a £100 bar tab at the venue. Party until the early hours and experience the nightlife in the city, we’re sure the hangover will be worth it.

7. Bongos Bingo – Newcastle
Whilst it isn’t an official fresher event, Bongo’s Bingo is still an amazing award-winning event to experience as a student in Newcastle. We can’t think of a better first experience than going during fresher’s week! A great thing about Bongo’s is they host events across the year so you can pick from numerous dates or go multiple times.
You can expect bingo but with a twist, with dance-offs, amazing prizes, great music, dancing on tables and lots of different drink choices to choose from. It’s a fab night out and with four events taking place in September at the iconic Boiler Shop venue, why not plan to go with your flatmates?

Remember, it might be hard to resist going on as many nights out as you can, but you’d rather get FOMO than overdo it.
