1. Twenty Twenty

Twenty Twenty is a New-York style restaurant and bar situated inside the Bigg Market.

Famous for their giant 20” inch pizzas, with one slice being the size of an 8 inch pizza, this place is the real deal.

Is there truly a better combination than pizza and New York Hot Dogs? We don’t think so, which is why their Hot Diggity Dawg is our absolute fave.

You can split the 20” inch pizza between you and your pals, with cheese and garlic oil for dipping!

Everyone can enjoy the fresh quality pizzas at this place, as tons of their food items can be substituted with vegan cheese, or swapped for a gluten free base.

If the food wasn’t enough to entice you, they also have a 2 for £12 deal on cocktails, spritzes and slush from 12-7pm Monday to Friday, and all night Sunday.

2. Fuochi Pizza Experience

When it comes to Newcastle’s best pizza joints, Fuochi Pizza Experience is up there with one of our favourites.

This ever-popular authentic Napoletana Pizzeria is located on Westgate Road, with incredible pizzas made the Italian way.

The dough here is proved for over 48 hours and cooked in a wood fired oven, with both red-base pizzas and white-base pizzas available.

We’d recommend their Salsiccia Efriarielli pizza which comes with provolone cheese, fior di latte mozzarella, friarielli, Italian sausage, sliced garlic, fresh chilli, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil.

This place gives some serious sides and dips too, like their southern fried chips and truffle oil sauce – mmm!

Address: 211 Westgate Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 6AD

3. Punto Italian Kitchen

Punto Italian Kitchen specialises in high quality, sourdough pizza made using finely milled ‘doppio zero’ flour from Napoli.

Whether you’re after a quick pizza and a pint, somewhere to celebrate a special occasion or even pizza you can take home to eat, you’re certain to get a taste of Italy at this modern kitchen in the heart of Heaton.

When it comes to what to order, we’re obsessed with their Nduja Like Goats Cheese with Punto Signature Tomato Sauce, Spicy Nduja Sausage, Goats Cheese, and ‘Heaton Honey’ Glazed Sesame Crust.

If you’re feeling peck-ish, try their Triple Cooked Skin-On Truffle Chips with Grana Padano too.

They also serve cocktails, Italian wines, beers and more so you can make an evening out of it with your friends!

Address: 208-210 Heaton Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne NE6 5HP

4. Flint Pizza

Flint Pizza brings Artisan Neapolitan pizza, made using fresh ingredients to the Newcastle suburb of Heaton.

The authentic wood-fired pizza here is soft, light and truly one of a kind, with a small but varied menu.

We can’t get enough of their Jersey Royal pizza with Jersey Royal Potatoes, Parmesan, Wild Garlic Pesto, and Pickled Calcots.

If you love dipping your crusts (it’s the best part), then make sure to order their class dips like the Garlic & Rosemary Aioli.

For those with a sweet tooth, you can’t go for a meal here without trying out their Tiramisu for dessert!

Scream for Pizza is a funky Newcastle pizzeria, specialising in wood-fired pizza made with their own twist of classic and creative toppings.

If you’re in the mood for a feast, order the firm favourite Take A Pork On The Wild Side pizza topped with the finest Sicilian fennel sausage, ricotta & caramelised onion – you can’t go wrong with a classic combo!

You won’t just scream for pizza at this NY slice & soft serve joint, they also serve up more-ish sides, vibrant cocktails, delicious sundaes and more.

This industrial disco chic venue offers indoor and outdoor seating, and it’s well worth mooching to Sandyford to see what it’s all about!

6. Gingerino’s Kitchen

Gingerino’s Kitchen is a counter-service restaurant in Ouseburn specialising in homemade pizzas and calzones.

Their freshly made authentic thin and crispy stonebaked pizzas are perfect for a tasty lunch or an evening meal, priced at just £3.50 a slice.

Our fave item on the menu is their Rocket and Parmesan Pizza with Rocket and Parmesan shavings, san marzano DOP tomato, mozzarella, basil, and oregano.

If you’re in the mood for a calzone, order the 4 Formaggi filled with San Marzano DOP tomato, mozzarella, basil, and oregano with four cheeses containing parmesan, colcelatte, brie, and mozzarella.

The spicy mayo here is the ultimate dipping sauce combining house garlic mayo and chilli sauce –  the best of both worlds!

You can even order straight to your student flat using Deliveroo for a pizza party with your flatmates.

Grab a Gold Digger cocktail and enjoy some fantastic pizza, like their Lamb ragu with mozzarella, crispy spring cabbage, courgetti and a San Marzano tomato base.

If you’re wanting to add extra toppings, it’s just £2 no matter what you’re after!

Still hungry? We don’t blame ya, try their Mini Truffle Mac and Cheese for the ultimate comfort food cravings.

Conveniently located opposite Central Station, this stylish restaurant will keep you coming back for more with their first-class menu.

8. Pizzeria Francesca

When it comes to pizzas, this family-run Italian restaurant has seriously got some game.

Pizzeria Francesca has been a part of Jesmond’s food scene since 1983, and has an authentic, rustic and Italian feel which you’ll struggle to find anywhere else.

Their Manor House Road venue is a cosy spot for catching up with friends over a bite to eat and a few drinks, with a variety of options to choose from.

The Pugliese with Tomato, mozzarella cheese, onions and mushrooms is one of their specialties.

You can even get half pizza and half pasta which is great value for money – two of your favourite Italian delicacies for the price of one!
