1. Emily’s

Emily’s is a little independent cafe located on Earlsdon Street just outside of the city centre.

Whilst it may be slightly out the way than other spots, it’s certainly worth heading to – lunch date anyone?

Serving up hot drinks, breakfasts, soups, comfort food, cakes, pastries and other dishes, you’ve got no problems when it comes to what to order.

We’re a huge fan of their scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on homemade soda bread.

If that’s not cutting it for you, make sure to try their soup and sandwich with a choice of any sandwich from the lunch menu with homemade soup.

It’s the perfect winter warmer and a bargain too!

2. Taste Vietnam

When it comes to treating yourself to lunch, Coventry has something for all tastes and budgets.

Situated on Spon Street, Taste Vietnam offers an authentic menu giving you a taste of Vietnam’s rich and diverse cuisine.

For something a little different for your lunch time fix, you can choose from the likes of pho, banh mi, hearty rice and noodle dishes whilst eating at this relaxing venue.

In terms of what to order, we’d go for the beef wrapped in Betel Leaves noodle salad, or the Vietnamese Chicken served with rice – it just sounds SO good!

Not only is there a wide choice of Southeast Asian food at affordable prices here, there’s plenty of tables for you and your friends to relax.

3. Bayley Lane Kitchen & Cocktails

There are so many options for lunch in Coventry but one of our top choices for students is none other than Bayley Lane Kitchen & Cocktails.

We’re sure you can quite easily guess where this food spot is located, and thankfully it couldn’t be more convenient being just a 2-minute walk from Coventry Cathedral.

Open from 12pm daily, this independent venue offers locally sourced and house-made foods and drinks.

You can enjoy something tasty to eat opposite the cathedral ruins whether it’s chicken Caesar salad or the pasta of the day – lunch with a view, we don’t mind if we do!

There’s plenty of other things to choose from on the menu with open sandwiches, burgers, stir fry, along with much more.

If you’re in the mood for a tipple or two after a morning study session, they have a great menu offering beer and cocktails too.

Next up on our list of where to grab lunch in Coventry is Franzos, a food hub which is bound to become a new favourite whilst studying here.

Known for their succulent flame-grilled chicken and piri-piri sauce, this halal restaurant is somewhere you simply NEED to try.

In terms of what to order off their large menu, you’ve got the likes of Lebanese chicken wraps, chicken tikka burgers, and lamb smashed burgers – wow talk about mouthwatering!

Trust us, this venue situated inside Lower Precinct Shopping Centre will succeed all of your expectations and the prices are pretty spot on too.

You can even order through Deliveroo if you just fancy grabbing a takeaway and heading home after a jam-packed morning on campus.

5. The Pod Cafe

The Pod Cafe is a lovely plant-based cafe found on Far Gosford Street in the heart of Coventry City Centre.

Their menu consists of plant-based, seasonal and locally sourced lunches with a new menu each week so, you’ll simply just have to go back again to try something different.

They also offer plenty of hot and cold drinks options too with fabulous service.

The simple yet stylish surroundings provide a welcoming space for everyone, with curated music setting the scene and a large menu to choose from, you can’t ask for much more!

It ain’t half a bad place to get some studying done either, the only thing is they’re only open Tuesday-Thursday so unless you’re planning to eat out on those days, it’s a bit of a pain.
