Coventry

1. Watch A Show At The Belgrade Theatre

Whilst living in Coventry you have to experience a show at The Belgrade Theatre at least once. You’ll find it in the heart of the city close by to the West Orchards Shopping Centre so, if you want to go for food or drinks beforehand there’s loads of options within walking distance.

This major arts and cultural venue has a varied programme throughout the year with shows like Bugsy Malone, The Rocky Horror Show and Grease on the calendar – you’ll sure be entertained! It’s a great place to go with friends or when your family come to visit.

Not only are the productions they put on great, but it’s also an important historical building. Being the first civic theatre to be built in Britain after WW2 and is now a Grade II listed building. Although, Belgrade manages to capture old and new very well in this stunning theatre.

Explore their events calendar or buy tickets to a show on the official website here.

Learn about the history, art and culture of the city with their museum, art gallery, records archive, learning centre and media studio. Enjoy the beautiful artwork or see an inspiring exhibition such as Grown Up In Britain – 100 Years Of Teenage Kicks and Brought To Light.

Coventry has a great nightlife whether you’re after a chilled night with a few drinks and a chat with friends or you want to dance the night away in a club, you’ll find lots of places to choose from.

Generators

One of our favourite places in the city is The Telegraph Hotel’s rooftop bar, Generators. Enjoy some delicious cocktails with friends whilst enjoying the view of Coventry’s Belgrade Plaza.

This modern bar opened its doors in 2021 so everything is super modern and fresh, it’s for sure the place to go for a bevvie in the city centre. Although, they are open weather dependant so make sure to check the forecast before planning a trip here.

 7. Chill At Coombe Country Park

Coombe Country Park is a beautiful park where you can escape the busy streets of the city centre and roam around the 500 acres of gardens, woodland, lakeside walks, and wildlife. Go with your newfound friends and make a day of it with a picnic or get an iced coffee and have a walk around.

This green space is especially nice during the summer months but it’s a scenic place to visit no matter the weather. Although, it’s about a 15-minute car or 30-minute bus ride away so you’ll need to plan how you’re going to get there. You can even have a nice cycle there if you’re bringing your bike with you to uni!

Why not swing the ropes at Go Ape and take part in a treetop challenge at the park if you’re feeling up for it? We live for an adrenaline rush!
