Lets Get Cooking: Seriously Yummy Air Fryer Recipes
Air fryer summer recipes could be the best thing you think about over the summer break, especially if you’ve already gone all in on the air fryer craze over the last year or so.
The summer break gives you plenty of chance to catch up with friends, share food, make platters of British tapas and picky bits, and get a barbecue going on the rare hot days we have in the UK over summer.
An air fryer could become a useful part of your arsenal as you cook up a storm and impress your friends this summer.
We’ve put together a list of some of the best recipes for you to try.
What Can You Cook In An Air Fryer This Summer?
The humble air fryer is so versatile that it can be used to cook pretty much anything you want to cook in it.
Whether you want to bake some food, cook straight from frozen, or try a whole host of sides, barbecue foods and the like for a summer treat, your air fryer can do the job well.
When the summer is hot and bright, you want to have your friend’s round for that barbecue life, a cold beer in hand and delicious food on the way.
The problem is though, standing in front of a grill filled with fire and smoke, or in front of an oven, can take away your enjoyment and leave you sweaty and uncomfortable.
An air fryer is compact, efficient, and cooks the food in half the time of a conventional oven, without it costing you as much time in preparation.
What Are The Advantages Of An Air Fryer?
There are a few advantages to using an air fryer:
- They use either little or no oil, making it a healthier way of cooking than other methods.
- You can cook so many different types of food in a versatile air fryer.
- They are quick and easy, minimising preparation time for your convenience.
- They are easy to clean and maintain, cooking everything in one pot.
- Energy-efficient, air fryers cook faster and use less energy than an oven.
Air Fryer Summer Recipes
Below are some of the best air fryer summer recipes that we’ve found.
Make sure to try them in your student flat kitchen…
1. Sweet Potato Fries
This simple recipe only requires a couple of sweet potatoes, a teaspoon of olive oil and seasoning of your choice.
We like to use some sweet smoked paprika to really enhance the flavours of the potato.
Peel and slice the potatoes into small sticks, drizzle olive oil over them in a bowl, shake well, add in as much of the paprika seasoning as you like, toss the potatoes to coat them, and then cook in batches in the air fryer.
They only need around 10-15 minutes at 180C, with a little shake around 5 minutes in.
2. Air Fryer Sausages
Another quick, easy, and delicious air fryer summer recipe is sausages that you can add to buns for a different take on hot dogs.
Take 6 sausages of your choice, prick them a few times all over with a sharp knife to help release the fat during cooking, set the air fryer to 180C and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning every 5 minutes, until they are completely cooked through.
Add to buns with your choice of condiment, maybe some golden, crispy onions too.
3. Crispy Halloumi
There are few things in life as good as squeaky cheese. Add this air fryer halloumi to your summer barbecue plans and you’ll delight the taste buds of friends and family, or maybe just keep it all to yourself!
All you need is one slab of halloumi, which you can cut into 6cm x 1cm slices, brush with a teaspoon of olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and we recommend the smoked paprika again for that little bit of sweet hit.
Pre-heat the air fryer to 200C for 2-minutes and cook for 8 minutes until you see it is starting to turn golden, then flip for another 2-5 minutes for golden, crispy, gooey, cheesy perfection.
4. Buffalo Cauliflower Wings
Cauliflower is the king of veggie junk food. It is so versatile and can be used in so many different forms.
Prepare cauliflower wings as either as a veggie main or a side dish with a hit of spice.
Combine paprika, cumin, garlic granules, 50g of plain flour and 200g of buttermilk with a pinch of salt and pepper and mix well to create a smooth batter.
Add the florets from a medium cauliflower and fully coat with the batter. Cook in batches at 200C for 18-20 minutes, turning halfway until brown.
Whilst cooking, combine 100g of hot sauce, a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of honey, and as each batch is cooked add to this mixture, and fully coat.
Once all cooked and coated, return to the air fryer for another 6-9 minutes until hot through.
5. Chicken Fajitas
Succulent chicken, some hot summer spices, plenty of veggies and a soft warm tortilla, what’s not to love about chicken fajitas?
Pre-heat the air fryer to 200C, take 3 chicken breasts and slice into strips, a sliced red and yellow pepper (seeds removed), and 1 sliced red chilli (seeds removed).
Coat these with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, garlic granules, cumin, paprika, ground coriander, and Cajun seasoning.
Air fry for 15 minutes, shaking the basket twice during cooking, divide the chicken and add to warmed tortilla wraps, add guacamole and sour cream to your own taste, wrap, and cut in half to serve.
