About Winter Wonderland

If you haven’t heard of Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland then how?

After all, it’s one of the largest annual Christmas events within the UK.

If you haven’t been, you probably know someone who has!

Originally, the event started out as a small funfair in Hyde Park in 2005 and then expanded in 2007.

It has since grown massively with visitor numbers now reaching up to 3 million per year.

This year’s addition is set to be bigger and better than ever, marking the 15th year of the festive extravaganza.

Although, it did not take place for two years because of the pandemic.

You can find out more when it’s taking place, what’s on this year and how to get tickets below!

When Is Winter Wonderland 2022

Winter Wonderland takes place across a period of six weeks every year,

This year’s festivities begin on Friday 18th November 2022 and end on January 2nd 2023.

You’ll have plenty of time to see what the fuss is all about, although tickets do get nabbed up fast.

So, we’d recommend sorting out a date with your pals and getting booked in, sooner rather than later!

The venue opens from 10am until 10pm every day of the week, with the last entry to the wonderland being 9:30pm.

You simply choose a time that suits you upon booking your tickets, then you will be then allowed in at your chosen timeslot.

Once you’re in, you can stay for as long as you like – woop!

How To Get There

Winter Wonderland has taken place every year in the heart of London’s Hyde Park, since it first began in 2005.

The best way to get to the attraction is through using public transport as the area gets immensely busy.

The nearest tube stations to Hyde Park, include Victoria, Bond Street, Green Park, Paddington, Knightsbridge, Marble Arch, and Hyde Park Corner.

We recommend planning how to get there in advance and to arrive at quieter times to ensure a quick and easy entry into the event.

To find out more about the best travel options for visiting Winter Wonderland, we recommend checking out the Transport For London website to plan your route.

What’s On For 2022

As you already know, this year’s Winter Wonderland is promised to be bigger and better than ever, marking the 15th anniversary of the festive heaven.

As you walk around Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, you’ll be spoilt for choice with a variety of Christmas-themed activities.

Whether you’re after an unforgettable first-time visit, a romantic date, a wholesome family trip or a fun-filled time with your friends, there’s something for everyone at Winter Wonderland.

Of course, we must start off with the iconic Christmas Markets with stunning wooden chalets for you to stroll around offering plenty of presents for your family and friends, or even something nice for yourself.

You’ll feel like you’re exploring a traditional German market rather than being in London!

Once you’ve explored the festive stalls, you can skate around the UK’s largest open-air Ice rink, explore the magical ice kingdom with 500 tons of sculptured ice and snow displays, and ride 70 metres into the air on the The Giant Wheel.

For thrill seekers, there are over 100 different fairground rides to choose from including the world’s largest transportable Starflyer, Aeronaut Starflyer, the brand-new Canadian Mountie Funhouse and The Time Machine.

There’s also the longest-standing ride at Hyde Park, the Euro Coaster with its 370-metre-long track.

Prepare to be filled with adrenaline and to see Hyde Park from all angles on these rides.

Although, we wouldn’t recommend going on them straight after enjoying some festive foods and drinks!

Food & Drink Available

Honestly, Winter Wonderland is the place to be for food and drink aside from anything else.

We’d go here just for the tasty scran and the creative drinks on offer!

No matter if you want a nice sit-down meal, something quick and easy to munch on or a few drinks with your pals, there’s a large selection of places to visit.

The most notable drinking destination must be the Bavarian Village which includes Bavarian Hall, Almhütte, Cafe Bavaria and Rotund.

Bar Ice, an 80s Apres-ski themed venue is the ideal for you to have a few cocktails with friends.

The Fire Pit is the cosiest drinking spot inside the event, with live bands and DJ sets as well as a fire pit to warm up.

Another popular spot for enjoying some drinks with your pals is Explorer’s Rest with tons of festive fun to be had.

For the best mulled wine and hot chocolate, head to Thor’s Tipi.

That’s not all the bars either, there’s also the Carousel Bar which will take you on a slow 360-degree spin whilst you sip on some bevvies.

If you’re after somewhere for a pitstop and a chill, take a visit to Arctic Lodge Bar.

In terms of food, you can expect next-level Street Food and Christmas-themed dishes from German sausages to waffles to crepes to gyros to truffle burgers to so much more.

Some of the food traders include Little Bao Boy, Edgy Veggie, Santa’s Grill, Mac Daddy, and Truffle Burger.

Although, there’s an eatery to be found on every corner of Winter Wonderland.

So, no matter what’s tickling your taste-buds, we’re sure you’ll find somewhere suited to you!

How To Get Tickets

So, you’ve made it this far, surely this means you’re wanting to take a visit to the world-famous Hyde Park Winter Wonderland? We reckon so!

In previous years, you could just show up to the event and buy a ticket.

However this no longer is the case due to the huge demand.

People come from all over to get a taste of the magic of Winer Wonderland, so tickets get released months in advance.

Although, that doesn’t mean you can’t attend and join in on the fun, you just need to be quick!

Don’t worry about spending a fortune, tickets are free for off-peak times whilst peak times cost between £5 to £7.50 so admission certainly won’t break the bank.

Remember, you do need to pay to go on the rides, buy foods and drinks and take part in any of the activities though.

With the countdown on until the opening of London’s biggest Christmas party, we’d recommend planning your visit and booking your ticket on the official website.

You should only purchase tickets from Winter Wonderland themselves, rather than purchasing from any Grinch ticket sellers– it wouldn’t be very magical to be turned away, eh?
