Whilst staying in your student accommodation in Coventry, there’s only so much cooking you can do before you start dreaming about eating at your fave restaurant.
There’s nothing better than lounging around, waiting to be served a delicious meal and drinks which have been prepared by a professional chef…right?
To get you excited about your next trip out, we’ve compiled a list of the best restaurants for you and your pals to visit when you’re not busy with university. Check them out below!
1. Taste Vietnam
In the heart of Coventry city centre, you can uncover Taste Vietnam!
What makes this restaurant so unique is that its founder – Van – longed for a choice of tasty, authentic Vietnamese food. This was something the UK didn’t provide and that’s what led to the creation of this popular eatery.
Offering a delectable menu including mouth-watering noodles and tasty chargrilled pork Vietnamese baguettes, you’re guaranteed to come out feeling extra bloated…who doesn’t want that?
At fantastic prices, this restaurant is a must-visit for students on a budget. We all know just how expensive your uni year is so don’t feel like you’re breaking the bank by visiting here!
‘Had the baguette, the bread was toasted while we waited, beef and chicken versions, stuffed full no skimping on filling or taste! Very friendly staff, would really recommend.’
‘Lovely place, came here with my girlfriend for a meal and we enjoyed our dinner and friendly atmosphere. Food tasted good and we had a good time. 100% recommend’
2. The Botanist
You’ve probably heard of The Botanist chain, ‘cos it’s literally dotted all over the UK. But for those that haven’t, it’s basically a botanical haven.
It’s a place where antiquities and trinkets hang from the walls, and resident botanists craft unusual concoctions…how cool does that sound?!
On the menu, you can devour one of their Botanist Boards, consisting of patatas bravas, chicken skewers, cumberland Scotch egg, whole garlic prawns and baked Camembert with prosciutto.
Or, if you’re fancying something a little smaller, why not try a crispy halloumi hanging kebab? With a sweet chilli glaze and garlic oil, you’re in for a treat if you pick this as your meal!
Not only is the food a 10/10, the interior design of The Botanist is simply exquisite. Think of an inside secret garden with wooden features and plants everywhere! We honestly love it.
‘An amazing time yesterday at the botanist. We had a large group and had excellent service from Jim our waiter. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it.’
‘You have to pay for parking, it’s about a 10 minute walk. The place gets really busy at the weekend, best to book a table or a place at the bar. One of the best places to go into Coventry City Centre and probably the coolest. Nice cocktails, beers and food with a great atmosphere, it’s the best your going to get in Coventry. My friends and I had a great time, check it out.’

Our firm fave has to be the Pollo Pesto Rigatoni, a dish filled with chicken in a creamy pesto sauce with rocket and rigatoni.
We also love the Pan Fried Cod Loin, with roasted veg, crushed new potatoes and salsa verde…mmmm!
This restaurant is on the more expensive side for students, but honestly, it’s SO worth it!

‘Lovey food and great service, we had a selection of fish, seafood pasta and steak skewers. All really good, great starters as well… Lovely cocktails and mocktails. Simple menu , but still plenty of choice.’

5. Jinseon Korean BBQ
One of our favourite places in Coventry to visit for great food has to be Jinseon Korean BBQ.
It’s a totally new dining experience with endless choices of locally sourced meat, seafood and vegetables cooked on a live charcoal fire on your own table.
For lunch or dinner, you can dive into some of their mouth-watering rice and noodle dishes, such as the Tofu dolsot bibimbap, or the Teriyaki beef with rice!
They even offer a chef’s recommendation’s section, which includes dishes such as the original pork belly or signature LA galbi.
‘Very friendly staff, great selection of food and a good ambience. I definitely recommend visiting this establishment. If I ever find myself in the area will definitely be visiting again. The Korean Fried Chicken is amazing.’
‘A new experience for me, having Korean cuisine, but was an absolute delight, really friendly staff, and the foods on offer were so flavoursome, bbq’ing your own meats was also a really cool concept’
