You can’t beat a classic Halloween costume, whether you decide to be a spooky ghost or a bright green witch, you’re deffo bound to impress.

So how can we make these classic Halloween costume ideas affordable on a student budget? Let’s take a look.

1. Ghost

Budget Halloween costume as Ghost

Ah the ghost, a super simple yet effective Halloween costume to create and you only need a few bits and bobs to pull it off.

All you’ll need is a baseball cap, a sheet, some scissors, and a black marker, it’s as simple as that!

To make this costume, you’ll first need to cut the brim off a light-colored baseball cap, if you don’t want to cut it off you can wear it backward, or just buy one from a charity shop.

  1. Get one of your pals to drape the sheet over you, if it drags on the floor, make sure your mate marks where it needs to be cut!
  2. Then, get your mate to mark the center of your face on the sheet with a black marker as well as the eye holes (just draw little dots for the eyes.)
  3. Remove the sheet, pin it to the cap, and place the mark made for the center of the face right in the center of the baseball cap.
  4. Next, pin the sheet around the hat with about three or four pins, and begin to cut out the eye holes, circle them with black marker and make sure they’re bigger than your actual eyes!
  5. Draw a mouth and nose too so you can breathe properly, and if the sheet was too long, you’ll have to snip it at this point too.

TOP SPOOKY TIP: For added effect, grab some white face paint and put it around your eyes, nose, and mouth to make you look extra ghostly.
